This is not a drill! I repeat - This is NOT a drill! Fortnite and Epic Games haVE confirmed the much-anticipated return - after five long years - of one of the world's most popular games on mobile.
If you were one of the few million people who were jamming Fortnite on mobile when it first came out in 2017, you were probably distraught when Epic Games announced they were removing it from iOS and Android.
But a few weeks ago, the clouds cleared, the skies opened up, and the sun shone down on us mobile players when Epic Games posted on their official X account that the game was coming back!
But despite the expectations that Fortnite would once again be playable on iOS devices, the game’s return has unexpectedly come to a staggering halt, and neither Apple nor Epic Games has offered a clear reason why (classic).
Following the recent court ruling that favored Epic Games, the company moved ever so quickly to resubmit Fortnite to Apple for approval, aiming for a relaunch last week.
According to Apple’s own guidelines, the majority of app reviews are completed within a single day. So far, there’s been no explanation as to why Fortnite’s approval is taking longer than expected. Fortnite’s reentry is now heading into the four-day mark with no update in sight.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney originally posted on X on April 30th that it would return to the App Store "next week," and has regularly replied to fans on X.com and provided information about the release's progress.
That tweet has now been deleted.
Now, with no public statements or updates from either company, players are left wondering what’s causing the delay. Technical issues may be unlikely, especially since Fortnite is already available on iOS in other countries.
For now, fans remain in limbo, waiting for a green light that hasn’t come, and with no timeline in sight.
